Did you know that pancreatic cancer is the 4th most deadly cancer, yet receives the least funding of the Top 10 cancers?
Pancreatic cancer is also the only cancer of the Top 10 to have just a single digit survival rate after 5 years.
This is not acceptable.
After running in several half and full marathons, I have been inspired by how empowering the experience is. I would like to use this empowerment, along with the camaraderie of the running community to go out and do some good!
In October, I will be running the Wineglass Marathon in New York, and my mom will be running the 5K.
(26.2 + 3.1 = 29.3.... and you know, everything is catchier if it rhymes!)
We will both be running in support of Project Purple, a non-profit with the aim of raising awarness for pancreatic cancer.
Please join us in supporting two of our courageous family, my Aunt Bev and Uncle Dave, who are both battling pancreatic cancer and liver cancer.
The fight does not end there. My family has been touched by degenerative diseases, cancer, and loss in innumerable ways, but they have always been the most supportive and compassionate bunch of goofballs ever, and I am proud to call them mine.
The fight that AB, UD, and other people affected have is enormous, and I can only hope to honor them and their kick-ass spirit by kicking assphalt in another 26.2, and raising awareness in the process!
Please consider helping out my fundraiser and supporting Project Purple!
