Accountability Lab is a transformative nonprofit social enterprise that builds trust and cooperation between citizens and their governments, catalyzing a new generation of active citizens and responsible leaders. With a focus on the power of youth, innovative approaches such as the "Accountability Incubator" and "Integrity Idol," and a track record of impact in Liberia, Mali, Nepal and Pakistan. I'm delighted to support their work as a board member, donor, and all around civic participation fan girl.
"Accountapreneurs" have created dozens of accountability tools globally, from interactive civic education programs in schools to watchdog news outlets to film schools. One of my favorite stories is a woman from Liberia who made a film about how her professor told her she would not graduate if she did not engage in sexual activity with him. While this power abuse is unimaginable for some of us, it is a daily struggle for so many women in both the US and Liberia. The good news is that this woman was able to use her film training to tell her story publicly - and hold power accountable - and graduate.
I realize there are hundreds, if not thousands, of causes to support this holiday season. Please consider Accountability Lab: $50 supports a training session for an accountapreneur for a day and $100 provides mentoring for an accountapreneur for a month.
Can I count on you?
p.s. I believe deeply that in the United States and abroad, civic inclusion and participation and government transparency and accountability is the root of improving all social systems: health, education, economy, and beyond. Be apart of something awesome by investing in Accountability Lab!
