Thank you in advance, for your support of my fund raising efforts this year with the Water Buffalos "Ride with Purpose" 2014! Each year a group of water and wastewater professionals get together and raise money while riding motorcycles to AWWA's Annual Conference and Exposition "ACE”. After my inaugural ride last year to Denver I have decided that it is too fun to stop, and will make the trip to Boston this year in June.
Over the past 8 years the group has raised well over a half million dollars to help people with something that many of us take for granted daily. The funds raised by this group go to Water for People to support their projects in developing countries for safe water and sanitation solutions.
Water for People has a unique approach in their efforts. What I personally like about this organization, other than the obvious water connection, is that:
- Each project must supply and meet the water and sanitation needs of the entire community being served.
- Each project must have significant involvement from the community being served.
- Each project must develop a method to collect their own funds to maintain these new systems.
- Community ownership and sustainability is of the utmost importance for every project.
The number of people who are trying to talk you out of some of your money for one cause or another is constantly growing. I do however hope that you take some time to learn more about the work that this group does, and then find it in yourself to donate.
Learn more about both of these groups at http://www.waterforpeople.org/ and http://www.ridewithpurpose.org/
THANK YOU for Your Help & as always, Keep the Shiny Side Up!

P.S. I almost forgot, my beautiful bride (who thought I was crazy last year), will be joining me as my on-board photographer (notice I didn't say navigator), this year for a much more significant part of the trip. Yep, Jennifer is now crazy too!
