I will be running the 2012 Boston Marathon in support of the Ace Bailey Children's Foundation. The Ace Bailey Children's Foundation raises money to benefit the Floating Hospital for Children in Boston. The personal connection I have to Children's Floating Hospital at Tufts Medical Center is my cousin's newborn son that just spent time in the NICU at Tufts this past October-November. Ultimately though, I know in my heart that this foundation is doing many good things for the families of the children needing care at Tufts. I have three healthy kids and am happy to know I am helping those families in some way.
Ace Bailey Foundation is in honor of former Boston Bruin Ace Bailey who died on September 11, 2001, when United Airlines Flight 175 crashed into to the World Trade Center in the terrorist attacks.
Currently the Ace Bailey Children’s Foundation is raising funds to bring branches of “Ace’s Place” play centers to the Tufts Medical Center’s Pediatric Emergency Department. The two new “Ace’s Place” facilities will provide spaces for children to play during visits to the emergency department.
