The Story

EVENT DATE: May 05, 2016

Project ACES was created by a physical education teacher in 1989 as a method of motivating children to exercise. The event is an international celebration of health, more commonly known as All Children Exercise Simultaneously, or ACES Day.

Last year’s results:

  • Participating Schools: 939
  • Participating Students:3 07,051
  • Participating Michigan Counties: All 83

This celebration emphasizes physical activity among students and helps combat childhood obesity. Any school that participates in Bike to School Day is now also part of Project ACES.

Michigan schools have the freedom to make the event their own and are encouraged to get creative! Schools have observed ACES Day in a variety of ways, including:

  • Walking parades
  • Biking to school
  • Dance aerobics classes
  • Field days, or outdoor events
