BENEFITING: American Cancer Society
ORGANIZER: American Cancer
EVENT: 2018 Pittsburgh Marathon
EVENT DATE: May 06, 2018
I have recently signed up for the Pittsburgh Marathon, my first full marathon.
In years past, I have ran the half marathon in honor of my Mom, and to raise funds for various lung cancer support and research groups. During these fundraising efforts, many shared their stories about loved ones that cancer had touched in one way or another. Some had loved ones they had lost, some currently battling, and others who were cancer free! The more I reflected on these conversations and interactions, I quickly realized that cancer does not discriminate. It does not respect age, sex, ethinicity, or lifestyle. It is a ruthless disease that can affect anyone, without notice. It will take from those that do not deserve to be taken from. It takes time. It takes energy. It takes strength. It takes future plans. It takes dreams.
I am always running for Mum, but this year, I am also running for everyone who was ever been affected by cancer in one way or another, and with the hope that our fundraising efforts may save others from battling this disease. My hope is that you will consider supporting me, and the American Cancer Society to help derail cancer.
