Our mission is to help Dona Ana County reach our No Kill goal to eliminate the unnecessary killing of companion animals via progressive & friendly animal-welfare programs and services. Our vision is that our efforts will help transform our community to improve the quality of life for companion animals and greatly reduce the number of abandoned and homeless animals impounded and killed at our municipal shelter.
To date, we have rescued more than 1500 cats and dogs, most from our municipal shelter, since May 2012. Last year, we opened an adoption and education center. This year, we are working to save the harder-to-save animals, such as the cats/kittens that inundate our shelter during the spring/summer, the shy/timid small dogs, and the big unruly dogs. We mostly rescue chihuahua and pit bull mixes as well. And we take in and treat/rescue many heartworm-positive dogs.
