Hello! My name is Kristin Wacker and I have a story.
I was diagnosed with Stage IV Wilm's Tumor at the age of 2 1/2. My mother had noticed that I had lost my appetite and was not as active as a toddler should be. She took me into my pediatrician and to make a long story short I was admitted to Children's Hospital that afternoon and scheduled for surgery that next morning.
Wilm's Tumor is a type of cancer that starts in the kidneys. It is the most common type of kidney cancer in children.
I fundraise not only for my kindred spirits, the children fighting the hard fight, but also for the parents. I was diagnosed at such a young age that I am blessed to not have many memories of the experience. My Father and Mother are the true heroes. Through their memories I have learned how much of a tiny fighter I actually was and how strong and inspiring they are.
Please join me in my journey to raise funds, through the American Cancer Society, not only for my tiny fighters out there but also for the parents who stand strong by their sides through the fight.
Activat10n is a challenge for ten outstanding up-and-coming professionals in Southeastern Wisconsin to fundraise for the American Cancer Society’s mission leading up to the “Inspiration Soirée” on September 16. Activat10n participants will earn individual recognition leading up to and the evening of the event, including an award for the top fundraiser.
