What we do
Active Minds is dedicated to saving lives and to building stronger families and communities. Our award-winning programs are empowering a new generation to speak openly about mental health, support each other, get help when needed, and take action for suicide prevention. More than 15,000 students each year join an Active Minds chapter located at more than 450 high schools, colleges, and universities nationwide.
Why this is important
Suicide rates in the U.S. are increasing. The second leading cause of death among college students is suicide. Young adults and teens are the group least likely to seek help.
How Active Minds makes an impact
Active Minds is a peer-to-peer model and is effective because students listen to students. A recent landmark study by the RAND Corporation confirms that Active Minds has a significant positive impact on mental health education and suicide prevention on college campuses.
Let's talk about it
Approximately 1 in 4 people lives with a diagnosable mental health issue. This includes depression, anxiety, substance abuse, eating disorders, and more. Let's talk about mental health so no one struggles alone.
