The idea for Miss Marilyn’s Second Chance Non ~ Profit came from a very personal place. From 2007 – 2009, Marilyn was in a wheelchair. Simple life tasks, such as cooking for herself and cutting the grass, became a tremendous hurdle. One day, after her nurse placed her outside on the porch for fresh air, the head of her subdivision committee approached her in the drive way and yelled at her for the length of her grass. Devastated by this situation, that someone hadn't simply cut her grass, Marilyn vowed to herelf that if she lived she would establish a place folks could come for help. It was at that moment that Marilyn chose to help others in her community and around the world who may be facing similar challenges which we all do from time-to-time.
By selling gently used items you no longer want/need a second chance by helping someone else, she is allowed to help organize “Acts Of Kindness For Those In Need!" These acts – like cutting the grass for someone who is sick or physically challenged – are often simple actions that make a huge impact in the lives of those who live around us.
After two years in an established location where folks know to come for help, we are being evicted for past rent and an incresae in the new lease. We give away most clothing and other items at this point as the need is high in the area.
We work with special needs children, at- risk teens, young Moms, we assist Scouts in attaining rank & provide a place for community service as well as our Acts Of Kindness. We also provide help for pets.
When someone opens our doors they are greeted as a special individual and offered assistance with their needs. It's that simple, good old fashioned help & kindness! We are a fun, caring, faith filled enviroment that strives to make a difference.
Please consider us, we need help to stay open & move to a permanent location. Thank you in advance for your support. ~ OX
