BENEFITING: LILOS PROMISE ANIMAL RESCUE INC
Update 5/14/15- After the MRI, the Dr. and his colleagues do see something at the base of his brain but are not convinced what it is. They say it looks like blood but have no idea how or why that would be. Or it could be the beginnings of something cancerous but they are not willing to say that it is. The spinal tap results are normal. They started him on steroids and antibiotics to see if that helps with any inflamation. They did get a full MRI but when they went to to the MRI with contrast the machine overheated. So they will do another MRI at no charge in a month or two depending on any changes we see in him. So frustrating. Thanks for all of your love, support and prayers!
Update! Thank you so much to everyone who has donated to Balboa! We are overwhelmed by your generosity! This means he can have his MRI and tests done very soon and we will keep you all updated of course! As we are over our goal, any additional funds will be used for any follow up vetting, his neuter when the doctors clear him for neutering, his food and his kenneling. We are hoping to find a foster home for him in the South Jersey area so please spread the word! His kenneling costs $300 per month and a foster home or forever home is our goal! Thank you again to all who have donated, we know he has touched so many hearts as he has ours!
Our sweet Balboa has had a long journey and we've hit another bump in the road. Balboa was found half dead in someone's yard with open wounds all over. He was brought to a crowded shelter by animal control. Once there he was diagnosed with heart worm. We just knew we had to bring him into Lilo's Promise and he really needed a chance. Since with us, Balboa has come a long way, his wounds are healed and he has finished his last round of heart worm treatment. Recently we noticed his right pupil was constantly dilated. Our vet took a look and suggested we see an ophthalmologist. She then suggested we see the neurologist. The neurologist believes that are very few causes for this issue and believes it could possibly be a brain tumor. This would be devastating news for Balboa as he has already been through so much. We are committed to doing everything we need to do to help him. But we need you! We are a small non-profit and do not have the funds it requires. We have obtained several estimates from various specialty hospitals and they have all quoted approx. $3,000 for the MRI and necessary tests. We are turning to our friends, family and supporters to help us get Balboa what he needs. No donation is too small, every dollar counts and your donation is tax-deductible! Please consider donating to help us once again help Balboa. He deserves it! Thank you for your support!
