BENEFITING: ADOPT A BOXER RESCUE
EVENT DATE: Nov 04, 2012
HOURS PLEDGED: 50
Over the past 5yrs I have been involved in a group known as Adopt a Boxer Rescue . Started out by adopting one boxer from them and from there have fostered some dogs who were lucky to find very good homes to call their own. Its sad to see and understand how these dogs get dumped in shelters ( some kill shelters ) or just left on the streets. The rescue is made up of all volunteers from different states, who open up their homes to these needy dogs. They work countless hours, it can be on fundraisers, car transports to get the dogs from shelters to homes who can foster them till adopted. The people involved are great and the reward you feel is priceless when we find a home who is willing to give a second chance to a boxer. So I have made up my mind to do something extra this year to run NYC Marathon to raise money in AABR name. Since this is an all volunteer organization the vet bills, food costs, transport and taking care of these dogs are high ( some dogs come to us in bad shape ), all are paid by this non-profit, charitable 501(c)(3) organization.
So i will be 55 by the start of race day, this will be my sixth Marathon run and the first after a hit and run accident in December 2010 None will be as much fun as this one My goal is to finish under 5 hrs and I will have a smile on my face the entire race because I'm doing it for a great cause.
