James and Robert's Adoption
Organized by: Delores and Leilani Rodriques Westrum
James and Robert are identical twins, born premature, to a 16 year old with no way to care for them. They had no home to go to after birth. Unable to have children herself even after several tries at IVF, Delores was beyond happy to take them in. That was over 3 years ago.
Delores and Leilani met while the boys were still teething, crawling, and eating baby food. They helped them learn to walk together, learn to talk. They went through the trials of breaking up baby brother fights over the the teething ring and climbing out of their cribs. They taught them to ride their first bikes and took them on their first camping trip.
Delores raised these wonderful boys since birth. She is Mommy. Leilani has been there for 2 1/2 years, raising them as her own. They call her Mama. We are a family.
"I have raised them since birth. They call me Mommy. They are the most wonderful, loving, fun little human beings. To call them my boys and known, beyond a doubt, that they are officially mine would be the happiest moment of my life." --Delores
"Since the first time I held them and rocked them to sleep, I have imagined what it would be to see them grow up. I have grown to love them and I cherish being their mama. My brother was adopted and I always had thoughts of adopting growing up. He was always my brother, period, not my "adopted brother." It is fate that I found Delores, James, and Robert. It is a special kind of love that has brought us together." --Leilani
But buried under all the joy is a pinch of dread, fear, and sorrow, that these boys do not belong to us. Delores is granted the role of a guardian by the courts. But, only the twins call her Mommy. We want to give them their forever home and know that they are forever ours.
We are ready. We have already incurred lawyer expenses and court fees. The next big step is in home investigation. The courts investigate every adoptive home, even when the birth parents have specifically chosen the adoptive parents and even when the children already live there. This investigation comes with a $4500 price tag. Please consider helping us to take this final step and get the money we need. Any amount of donation will help to make this dream come true.
