COMMUNITY ARTS CENTER INC's Fundraiser:

Music for Life

COMMUNITY ARTS CENTER INC's Photo

THE STORY:

If adults can start playing golf when they retire, why can’t they start playing a musical instrument? An exciting new program in Danville encourages adults of all ages to make music for life by joining a concert band for beginners!

Tim Johnson, a music educator of 30 years, has been hired to direct adults in an inclusive, nurturing program affiliated with New Horizons International Music Association. Johnson frequently says “your best is good enough” to his enthusiastic group of new musicians. “I’m so excited to have the variety of instruments in our new band,” says Johnson. “So far we have a bassoon, flute, two clarinets, and percussion.”

Your donation will keep our seniors off the streets, away from drugs, and creatively engaged. With Baby Boomer generation (74 million people) just now reaching retirement age many can look forward to several years of good health - most need challenging and rewarding activities during their retirement years. New music activities become one of the most important aspects of their lives providing opportunities to meet new friends who already share common interests and goals.

$4,000 will fund the essentials for this fledgling band - a stipend for the band leader, sheet music, publicity, polo shirts, concert space rental, and minor administration.
