Adventure 16 is taking on the 8000 Meter Challenge, where teams will hike SoCal's 3 highest peaks in 1 day to raise funds for BCM!. The first hike is 9 miles up 10,064' San Antonio (aka "Mt. Baldy"), then 18 miles up 11,502' San Gorgonio, topped off with a 12-mile hike, to 10,804' San Jacinto, for a total of 40 miles and 12,000 feet elevation gain!
Our team is participating in his extremely strenuous challenge to build camaraderie in activities we hold close to our hearts, but also to raise funds to benefit the youth the Big City Mountaineers serves. With your help and our summit attempts, BCM will reach over 1000 at-risk teens nationwide.
Big City Mountaineers transforms the lives of under-served urban youth through wilderness mentoring expeditions that instill critical life skills. We partner with community-based youth organizations and caring adult volunteers who act as mentors in the field to help young people realize their potential. Our curriculum improves integrity, self- esteem, responsibility, decision-making abilities and communication skills in close to 1,000 youth annually. BCM has a proven track record of improving young peoples’ lives with: • Increased likeliness to stay in school • Reduction in violence • Reduction in drug use
