BENEFITING: ADVOCARE FOUNDATION LTD
When I was raised as a child, I had everything in the world that I needed. I had a happy childhood, roof over my head, a very loving family and not a care in the world. It was not until later in life as I matured that I realized that there were inapparent moments in my life where I relied on the help and need of others without my knowledge. Losing my biological father Benny at the age of two left my very young mother as a new single mother of an even younger child. Years later I came to realize that the farm crisis impacted my step-dad Art's income as a John Deere welder without his control. Eating my school lunch with a reduced lunch price of 45 cents per meal then seemed like I was getting a discount over the other kids. I may not have had the fanciest of things in life, but I had the most important things - structure, stability, love and family. My point is simple. There were parts of my childhood that I had to rely on the help of others. I didn't realize it then but it is that later moment in life when you realize that you had that various assistance as a child. It then made me want to change things in my personal life to ensure that others were assisted, hopefully without their knowledge, to ensure their lives were more complete and fulfilled. While I may never be a parent in my lifetime, the passion to ensure that our children are raised properly, given proper nutrition and educated helps them be the best that they can be. I had the distinct honor to be in Dallas, Texas this summer to attend AdvoCare's annual national conference. I got to personally see the Ragus family present an AdvoCare Foundation check to the Dallas Police Commissioners accepting a large check to help support the children of the families of the very recently fallen Dallas Police Officers. At the conference, they also interviewed now adults that were part of childhood organizations years ago that AdvoCare Foundation is going to assist. Hearing their stories and seeing what a positive impact that it had on their life confirmed for me the importance of the AdvoCare Foundation. My ask of you is simple. Can you join me to help the Advocare Foundation to influence and change the lives of the children? Any assistance you can give is greatly appreciated to help support the programs that the foundation is supporting. My goal is to reach 500 of my dearest friends and family to get a donation of at least $10 each person to reach a goal of $5000 for the AdvoCare Foundation. If you are financially able to contribute more and pay it forward, the AdvoCare Foundation and I appreciate that even more! I am launching this campaign today in honor of my Dad Benny's birthday. The world lost a great man too young at age 34 back in 1975. If alive today he would have been 75 years old! Additional information on the Advocare Foundation: In 1993, AdvoCare founder Charlie Ragus committed to be an advocate who cared. Today, AdvoCare continues to champion that mission by giving back to communities across the country, committed to leaving the places we go better than when we got there. To strengthen our commitment and continue the great work and legacy of our founder, we established the AdvoCare Foundation in 2015. Our mission is to unlock potential for children in need by investing in long-term solutions for advancing their hope to live safe, healthy and happy lives.
