BENEFITING: ALTERNATIVE LIVING FOR THE AGING
EVENT DATE: Jun 06, 2013
I have recently been appointed to the board of Affordable Living for the Aging (ALA). I am spearheading the effort to develop a junior board of movers and shakers to help diversify our reach and impact not only seniors in need, but their families, support systems and the wider community. Our aging population impacts everyone. In addition to the social and economic implications of an aging population, our own lives are affected. Perhaps you are already experiencing this with your parents or grandparents. We all do at some point. And we too will grow old.
Although a local organization, ALA has gained national recognition for their shared housing strategies, which are helping provide both affordable housing and support systems for the aging population. ALA is helping people live their whole lives better. I know that I want the last years of my life to be really good ones. We all deserve that.
I have started this campaign to ask people to donate what they can. We are all in this together, and we will all benefit from the work of ALA. Think of it as your retirement plan: donating $25, $50, $100, $1,000 or more now will help grow and create programs for you to access as you age!
Please check out the website for more information and pass it on to your friends!!! Thanks for the support!!!!
ALA's mission is to provide low- income and homeless seniors with access to affordable housing and housing services that benefit them physically, psychologically and socially, and that are more cost-effective than institutional long-term care. Our vision is to ensure that all seniors in need have housing options that enable them to live with dignity and independence.
