I'm quickly coming up on the four year anniversary of my brain surgery to remove a cancerous tumor. Through these four years I've been living moment to moment, MRI to MRI; always hoping for the best, yet prepared for the worst. Luckily, my MRIs thus far have revealed a healing, healthy, stable brain and my doctor has now confidently changed my check-up schedule from every 3 months to every 6 months.
With this 6 month follow-up change (a siginficant landmark for the brain cancer community) I have been reflecting on my journey and growth over the past four years and I feel like I'm finally in a transition from constant uncertainty into a new space, where 'living with cancer' can take a backseat to 'living fully and deeply'.
Enter: A Fresh Chapter.
A Fresh Chapter's mission is to heal the emotional scars of cancer through travel and volunteer work. My group is traveling to New Delhi and volunteering with disabled women and underserved kids.
Personally, I'm looking to this trip as a chance to contribute in a positive way while also gaining new perspective, redefining goals, and reinforcing insight to my own resiliency and strengths - all along side a supportive group of like-minded people. (…and I'll be sharing photos along the way.)
Your contribution makes this trip possible!
