In 2012, I was diagnosed with invasive breast cancer and soon found myself in a whirlwind of treatments including surgeries, chemotherapy, radiation and targeted therapies. Three years out from my diagnosis I am now cancer free, but my psychological and emotional recovery is ongoing. As with many cancer survivors, I’ve struggled to find my footing post treatment.
In March 2016, I will join other people impacted by cancer for a two-week volunteer program in India with A Fresh Chapter. Whether spending time with disabled women at Mother Teresa's, working with kids at an underfunded daycare in one of Delhi's slums, or helping underserved youth through a career empowerment program, I will build new connections, gain perspective, and step beyond my story of cancer to help create a ripple of good in the world.
Through this program I will have the opportunity to volunteer my time and energy to people on the other side of the world as well as serve as a Cancer Ambassador in communities where cancer is often veiled in shame, secrecy, and stigma. In the process, I hope to turn the page of my own Fresh Chapter and heal myself as I work to heal the world. Please consider donating to this extraordinary journey. Any amount helps. I look forward to bringing you with me on this journey of discovery and will volunteer in your honor while I'm in India.
