BENEFITING: American Foundation for Suicide Prevention
EVENT: Boston Marathon 2014
EVENT DATE: Apr 21, 2014
The American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP) is the leading national not-for-profit organization exclusively dedicated to understanding and preventing suicide through research, education and advocacy, and to reaching out to people with mental disorders and those impacted by suicide.
AFSP Boston is thrilled to have been awarded THREE bibs for 2014. Our goal for 2014 is for our runners to raise at least $30,000. Each runner has committed to helping raise $10,000.
With funds raised, we are planning to host a webinar and distribution of AFSP educational programs – More than Sad, Teen Depression and The Truth about Suicide, to all the high schools around the Commonwealth. We need to provide much needed signs of suicide and depression training throughout the Commonwealth.
CONGRATULATIONS 2013 RUNNERS
We thank and congratulate Ashley Nahmias and John Reidy for all their hard work.
Together, they raised $21,617 for AFSP.
It was truly an amazing fundraising effort on their part. We thank all their donors, supporters and sponsors for helping John and Ashley EXCEED their goals.
We are so grateful to report that they were both safe and not injured.
They each made great time and crossed the finish line before the bombs exploded.
Ashley crossed the finish line at 3:29, and John finished at 3:50.
