Family loses everything, now they have a dream
Organized by: Julianna Evans
On August 21,2010 tragedy struck our family and our mother passed away from breast cancer. Distraught we tried to gather ourselves together and then tragedy struck not once, not twice but three times.
My sister was diagnosed with breast cancer at the end of 2010, an Uncle passed away and in May 2011 my husband tried to commit suicide. He survived but it took months of recovery and now he is disabled and cannot work. Our world has been turned upside down and we lost almost everything, in the course of 2 1/2 years. Struggling to care for a disabled husband, a niece and a sick sister was debilitating; but through the course of all of it, we managed to stay afloat with a lot of Faith and love. When we say all is lost, that includes everything but the clothes on our backs that is it.
Because we want to start fresh, we found a home to buy. Not a pretty home, its a fixer-upper; but with time, love, patience and persistence we can make it ours. Losing everything was hard; but staying together was a must.
Do to all of the set backs, we know it will take the help of a village to have our dream; but we hope that someone will see this and reach out to us so we can make it a reality. We don't mind slipping on floors just so we have a place to call are own.
You see we are living on a couch at a friends, we are working hard to get back to where we used to be and we also know the struggles we have endured in the last three years. It will take a village to help; but we hope that people actually read about it and reach out to make our dream a reality.
We hope that God does answer our prayers and opens the door to a new beginning. A place where we can wake up in the morning and be happy, a place for us to make memories; but most of all a place to call home. We have been waiting for so long, and can only hope that when you read our plight you will help our dreams come true again. So many tears we have cried; but at the end of the day its about family. Not about all of the monetary things; but the things that mean the most. Please help us answer our prayers. Please help us reach our goal. Share, donate, help.
Please pledge $ 1.00, $ 10.00, $ 20.00 or even $ 100.00 we would love to share with you our reality when our dreams do come true.
We would also like to memorialize our home, by placing a plaque on it and giving a warm thank you to everyone who has helped us get back on our feet and gave us a place to call home.
