I have been lucky enough to spend the last few months interning with A Just Harvest. A Just Harvest is an anti-hunger organization that does work to combat hunger on many different fronts. There is a kitchen that feeds around 170 people 365 days a year. With the recession and economy being in the state that it is the need to feed people and whole families has been growing. This is an amazing part of the work A Just Harvest does but that is not all. A Just Harvest works on the root causes of hunger by organizing around issues that cause economic struggle that lead to hunger in our community. AJH is also working on a Genesis project that will create learning opportunities through apprenticeships for community members to learn about hydroponics and growing a sustainability project for our community.
This work is AMAZING and needed in our community, but we need your help to keep doing this work. During this holiday season I am asking that you donate what you can to make sure this work can continue.
It costs about $1,000 a night to run the kitchen. If 20 of you donate $50 that will easily cover a night in the kitchen that will feed 170 patrons. However, any donation at all will make a great impact in making sure this work carries on in the year to come.
