ABOUT THE EVENT: On Thursday, June 16, Isla Urbana will host its first fundraiser at The Park in New York City; proceeds from the event fund the hospital’s rainwater harvesting system. The evening will feature a keynote address by Ambassador Carlos M. Sada, Consul General of Mexico in New York, complimentary drinks, Mexican-themed hors d'oeuvres, raffle, friendly faces, musical entertainment, a video presentation, and a whole lot of love. We want you to join us for the event! Donations of $75.00 purchase a ticket to one of the best get-down, kick-off jams to summer. Providing a hospital with running water: you can justify this party!
If you are unable to join us for the party, please make a donation of any amount and distribute our cause to your friends. By funding a fantastic idea we can alter an unacceptable injustice; we can give the gift of clean water.
ABOUT OUR PROJECT: Isla Urbana is a non-profit organization formed to provide a solution to the unsustainable water management in Mexico City through rainwater harvesting. Over 8 millions residents in the poorest regions of Mexico City strain to meet their fundamental water demands. In a city with so much rain water, our low-cost rainwater harvesting systems provide families with 50% of their annual need.
Even hospitals are not immune to these problems; IU has become aware of Hospital Iztapalapa in desperate need of running water. IU needs to raise $15,000 to fund the construction and installment of a large cistern and rainwater harvesting system, which will have a purification system built specifically for the hospital’s needs.
