BENEFITING: STAND FOR THE SILENT INC
EVENT DATE: Jan 03, 2014
AGW (Alfred G. Waters) Middle School located in Middletown, DE will be holding a viewing of the movie "Bully" (www.bullyproject.com) This documentary is something that changed my life, even as an adult. The message is delivered so clearly and reaches the hearts of anyone who watches, I think it should be shown in every middle school. One of the loudest messages is to "Stand for the Silent". Go sit with the person who is alone at the lunch table, help when someone is being bullied... Do something for the ones who aren't strong enough to stand alone. I would love for each student and educator to receive a bracelet as a reminder to stand up for the ones who need it and to know they are not alone. Middle school can be brutal now a days as shown so candidly in this documentary of what daily life is, as it happens, when you are bullied. Unfortunately, there are 978 bracelets needed for 6th, 7th and 8th graders as well as the educators at AGW. They have funded getting access to the movie and permission to show it. As a single mom, am unable to fund the bracelets without help. This movie and the impact it will make in this school will change many peoples lives. Even if it only $1.00 that you are able to contribute.. We will be 1 bracelet closer. For donations under the $10 minimum via crowdrise, you can donate directly on the Stand for the Silent page.... Just dedicate your donation to AGW Bracelets.
The founder of www.standforthesilent.org has agreed to contribute pledge cards to each student & educator and agreed to ship the bracelets for $1 each.(vs $1.50). Please visit the website to see what this movement is about. Mr. Smalley, who tells his story in the documentary, started this program after his 11 year old son Ty hung himself after relentless bullying. ---- 11 years old. We HAVE to do something to make a change.
