RUNNING IN MEMORY OF JOE AND FOR THE AMERICAN HEART ASSOCIATION
My brother Joe died suddenly January 29, 2015 at age 35. Of severe heart disease. He left behind a beautiful 3 year old daughter. Heart disease sucks. It is a preventable and improvable disease. Even with a significant family history, you can live a long and relatively healthy life if you know how. Part of working through my grief has included thinking about how I could do something or change something. Obviously I can't bring back Joe and help his heart health, even though that's what I would want to change most. I CAN make a difference by helping others...helping other little girls (and boys) keep their daddies (and mommies) around for a long time. So, I've decided to raise money for the American Heart Association, which works toward the goal of improving heart health by providing/supporting educational programs and research. How am I doing this? Running. It goes well with heart health! I'm even more motivated to run after Joe's death. I think of him every time I run, and wish I could have gotten him out there with me. I'll be running the US-only Detroit Half Marathon October 18, 2015, and I've chosen the American Heart Association as my charity of choice. Any support you give in memory of Joe is so appreciated.
