Last March, our precious son, Yossi, was diagnosed with a malignant brain tumor. Besides the shock and horror that consumed us, we were overwhelmed by the prospect of making Pesach which was 3 weeks away, as well as dealing with the emotional and physical needs of our other children and the day to day running of our household, not to mention trying to keep our business afloat.
Our fears and worries about many of these technical issues were immediately assuaged as the Jewish Caring Network came to our rescue. Pesach became a non-issue as JCN provided us with everything we needed - cleaning help, food and paper goods, and financial help.
But their help did not end there. For many, many months, as Yossi underwent treatments and we were traveling between Baltimore and DC and Philly, they were constantly there for us - a women's getaway respite, financial help for summer camp for our other kids while we were away for treatments, weekly housecleaning, flowers for Shabbos and Yom Tov, elaborate gift packages for each of our birthdays and for holidays, meals, babysitting, tickets for special concerts and other entertainment for the kids, emergency funds, a JCC membership, etc. Honestly, everything is such a blur I can't even remember everything they've done for us!
It has been very reassuring to know that JCN is always there for us. There was nothing that we needed that they didn't try to provide for us. JCN truly helped make a very challenging time for our family much easier. It has made a HUGE difference knowing we aren't alone with our difficulties.
On May 20th, I will be participating in the Jewish Caring Network's first Women's 5K Care Run. Please sponsor me and give as generously as you can to the Jewish Caring Network so they can continue to be a lifeline for families going through life-threatening illnesses.
