A home for Dustin
Organized by: Eric Sullivan
Hi my name is Eric Sullivan and I've worked at a Juvenile Rehabilitation Center for young men in Southeastern Ohio for the past 17 years. We've had our share of kids in need over the years and its heartbreaking. Although this young man stands out. The young man in our care is in desperate need of housing and his name is Dustin. Dustin turns 18 on August 18, 2014. At which point he ages out of Children's Services. In short this means he'll be on his own for the first time in his life. The home he's known for the last 1 1/2 years will no longer be available. The apartment we had planned on him moving into is no longer available, therefore, he now has to go on a waiting list. This can take up to a year. Dustin has no family to go to and he lives in rural Ohio which adds more barriers since there are few jobs and limited services available for him. He will be in desperate need of housing until resources are made available for long term housing. He has furniture, bedding, plates, and some clothing that have all been donated or bought for him by some very generous individuals. Dustin has been employed part-time for the last 2 months and has saved almost $550.00 dollars. However, without a place to live all of his hard work will be pointless on August 18th. My heart as well as many others ache as the 18th approaches. The hope is to obtain donations for Dustin to pay his rent for one year until he is able to acquire low income housing. Thank you so much for your time and generosity.
