A home for my boys.
Organized by: Summer Thomas
My name is Summer. I am a 26 year old single mother to two special needs little boys. They are my reason for doing this. They are in every thought and every movement I make. They are my world. Both of my children are considered special needs. My oldest son has Spastic Cerebral Palsy and youngest son has ADHD, underlying behavior disorder, attachment disorder, speech and motor delays, among other things. I can not work because of the amount of appointments we have per week. Usually it's about 6 but as many as 11 appointment in a 5 day span. Unfortunately where we live the "public housing" is not an option for us because of drugs, violence, or down right scary conditions they are in. I refuse to let my children live in the conditions offrered there. Right now we are in a home that is safe but I can not afford to stay here. Today is the day when something changed. While at my sons Kindergarten end of year program he asked if I bought a DVD recording that they offered. I told him yes. He almost started to cry, he thought we were going to lose our house because I bought a dvd of his first program. I have never felt so low in my life. I thought that I had been doing good at hiding my stress, I thought I was doing good...Apparently I was only fooling myself. I told myself my children would not worry over things like this and now I know he has worried I HAVE TO change it! I am not asking for a new house. I am asking enough money to buy a used single wide mobile home. Nothing special, just something that is ours, something that is paid for and that way he will never have to worry about if he has a house again. I can not do this on my own. I just can't. I want my boys to have a home, a place they know is theirs! I am trying my best! I am a full time mother, I am going to college for English literature and I have no help. I have them and they have me. That's it. I just want my boys to have a amazing life but that starts at home, and that's something we don't have. I ask that you please help any way you can. if you have any questions please feel free to ask, I am an open book.
