AHS Literary Magazine
Organized by: Katie Bowen
As a school, we are not really known for our academic prowess, but as a group, AHS Literary Magazine is trying to persevere through our difficulties to promote literacy and writing in a school where only 56% of students pass the state writing tests.
Our goal is to create a literary magazine in which the creative writing and art of students are published to share with the community. We believe that creative writing is a valuable tool for learning and for expressing our voice. We also believe that celebrating this through a literary magazine will help to change the culture of our school and promote literacy.
In order to reach our goal, we are asking for donations. We would like to emphasize that although the literary magazine is our primary goal, we have a lot of BIG ideas. We want to take a field trip to the printer to see how a literary magazine is made. We want to decorate the school with poetry. We also want to bring in guest writers to speak to the school. If we raise enough money, we can share our literary magazine with the public for free and build a culture of creativity and writing in our school.
