BENEFITING: American Heart Association
EVENT: Pittsburgh Marathon 2017
EVENT DATE: May 07, 2017
Hi! My name is Sarah. This coming May I will be competing in my fourth Pittsburgh Half Marathon. I am so fortunate to be able to participate in this event in such a beautiful city like Pittsburgh. Once again I am extremely excited to run this coming year but this year is extra special to me. I have chosen to fundraise for the American Heart Association in honor of my grandmother. My grandmother fell victim to a stroke a few years back and is faced with life changing deficits every single day. She continues to push through these misfortunes and works hard to improve day after day. As a family member, you sit back and watch her battle with these everyday tasks and wish you could do anything to make a difference. Well this is my chance! I am raising money for the American Heart Association in honor of my grandmother as well as all others who have become victims to this terrible event. Any donation is much appreciated!

Currently, heart disesases are the #1 killer of Americans and stroke doesn't fall far behind at #5. 1 in 3 women will die of heart disease. Stroke is the leading cause of disability in the United States. What people don't know, is that heart disease is 80% preventable. Physical activity and a healthy diet can help prevent you or your loved ones from suffering from either of these terrible diseases. Join the AHA/ASA marathon team and help us create a world free of cardiovascular diseases and stroke. For every $1 that is raised in the Greater Pittsburgh Region, $3 is allocated back to research and advocacy right here in Southwestern Pennsylvania. There is currently over $13 million invested in research in Pittsburgh - help us get one step closer to ending heart disease and stroke. You can make a difference!
