EVENT DATE Nov 22, 2014
Acie Bunch is 57 years young. Acie is a dad, a husband, a papa, a friend, an ex boxer, a navy veteran, an animal lover.
5 years ago his wife Gloria Bunch suffered from a massive and unexplained brain bleed and ended up in the icu. They were able to stop the bleeding and Gloria recovered, but not without accruing many hospital bills. A few months later Gloria suffered a massive heart attack. Again, she recovered and accrued more medical bills. As Gloria and Acie slowly but steadily began to rebuild their lives they received yet another blow, Acie was diagnosed with chronic lymphocytic leukemia. Acie and his family were told that it was a very slow growing leukemia and he wouldn't need treatment for some time. Eventually they started chemotherapy, confident that he wouldn't need chemo for more than 6 months. A few months later Gloria survived another heart attack. A few months after that they started Acie on a more grueling chemo, because it just wasn't working as they had hoped. Acie worked full time throughout the most debilitating chemotherapy. More lab results revealed that it still wasn't working as needed.
The doctors recently decided Acie needs a bone marrow transplant to make it through this. That's where we come in.
Right now they are testing siblings for matches for Acie's bone marrow transplant. Acie will miss a lot of work during his recovery and our hope is that he will be able to focus on making a full recovery and not on financial stresses while he heals.
Our goal is to offset medical expenses and his impending loss of wages.
We will be holding a benefit for him on Saturday November 22nd at River Music Experience in Davenport, Iowa from 3-8. There will be pasta and beer for only 10 dollars admittance. There will be a cash bar for other refreshments. We will have an auction with fantastic prizes, so please come and have a great night out and support a good man and his family.
If you would like to make a donation but can't make it to the benefit you can make a donation here and please share share share!
