As you all know, a 7.9 magnitude earthquake hit Nepal on April 25, 2015. The death toll, as of April 30, 2015, has reached over 5,500 people. In addition to that, thousands and thousands of people have been left hungry and homeless. Many families are without food and water, not to mention shelter. This issue is very personal for us and we wanted to do something that can help immediately and directly with the relief efforts but we have been hesitant to donate to the large group organizations in fear of common corruption within the government and the larger charity groups in Nepal.
The money we receive will 100% be used for supplies needed during this distressed time such as: tents/tarps, flashlights, water filters, water purification tablets, mosquito nets, medical blankets, medicines, face masks, canned food, rice, dhal, cooking oil, kerosine...etc. The monetary donations will go through a US bank account and the equivalent in Nepali Rupee (1USD~102NPR) will be used to buy, package, and ship needed supplies to various trusted organizations in Kathmandu. Denom will be organizing boxes of supplies through reliable transportation to our friends inside Kathmandu currently helping with relief efforts to distribute items as needed. We will have an updated list of items from within the city and will try to supply as often in as large of a quantity as possible. These items will be distributed inside Kathmandu as well as to surrounding cities as needed. It is little we can do compared to what is needed but we found this to be the most direct way we can help.
If, for any reason, we are not able to keep up sending supplies with the amount we fundraised, we will be donating all amount not used on supplies towww.wehelpnepal.org, a trusted organization vouched by several great friends.
