This is my second year as a Varsity rower at Los Gatos Rowing Club, and I can safely say that being a student athlete has been the absolute highlight of my high school career. I started rowing singles in the seventh grade and I was already hooked- there truly is something magical about rowing. From the feeling of soaring through the water on a good day in the single to winning a huge race with another eight girls by your side, there is too many things to love about the sport to be able to fit them all into this tiny little text box! One of the biggest aspects that keeps me coming back is the team atmosphere. As an athlete who started rowing as a single sculler, I fell in love with rowing first and the idea of a team afterwards. My friends at rowing are the ones who I turn to after a really rough week or an insanely hard workout, because I know that they experience the same struggles and challenges on a daily basis. If you want to complain about how hard it is to have good time management, crazy looking blisters on your hands, and "normal people" thinking you "play" an arm sport, then rowers are the ones to complain to! The fact that we all have to fight through these challenges together means not only do we understand each other on a level that no school friends can, we also become inseparable over the course of the season. In order for us to continue doing the things we love, we need to get some new equipment. Any donation, big or small, is helpful to our cause! Thank you so much!!
