As many people know, I am currently in India for the months of June through the end of July teaching students and villagers on the prevention of HIV/AIDS. As a part of the program I was able to choose a side project and I came to know about AIM Trust. This is an after school program for children living in poverty in various communities located throughout Chennai, India. At these centers located throughout the large city they help children with homework, provide a safe place to stay and offer development classes to all its members. The focus of my involvement is to teach children, generally ages 4-10, on basic hygiene practices such as hand washing and teeth brushing. As a part of this program we provide the hygienic necessities such as toothbrushes, paste, and soap. The organization has many other expenses to keep these centers up and running and can often be very expensive. Money can go so much further in India so any donation can be helpful. Donations as low as $10 USD can provide over 20 children with these items. By contributing to this cause you are able to provide the youth and their families, who often live below poverty line, these basic necessities that we so easily use on a daily basis. Help them stay healthy and donate.
