Aiming for the Olympics
Organized by: Taylor Gallegos
My name is Taylor Gallegos. I shoot Olympic style Air Pistol and .22 Sport Pistol. I am training to one day make it to the Olympics. I first started shooting with my dad at the deer lease shooting at anything from cd's to golfballs. Never would I have thought that I would ever have the chance to go to the Olympics. I started shooting competitively in 2010, where I qualified and shot in my first Junior Olympics competition at the Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colorado. That year I also shot in the National Championships in Fort Benning, Georgia. There I placed third in Women's Junior Sport Pistol and was invited to go the 2010 World Championships in Munich, Germany to represent the United States as part of the National Junior Team. Since then I have been going to multiple competitions across the nation and two more over seas at the Junior Hopes Competition in Plzen, Czech Republic and the 2014 World Championships in Granada, Spain. As a junior competitor I have shot at six Junior Olympics and National Championships, winning Junior Olympic Champion in 2012 for Air Pistol and consistently placing in the top four as a junior and the top eight as an open competitor. Last December I competed in the first part of the Olympic trials for the 2016 Olympics in Rio De Janeiro. To be even a consideration I needed to place in the top 10. Out of 50 competitors I placed 6th. The next part of the Olympic trials is in June. I have created this page to help fuel my Olympic aspirations. I need help with the funding for ammo, entry fees, travel for this and future competitions.. Every donation is another step towards my dreams. Please help me shoot for the stars.
