BENEFITING: CHILDRENS HOSPITAL MEDICAL CENTER OF AKRON
EVENT DATE: Apr 27, 2014
When my brother-in-law's father passed away February 1, 2014, I immediately began thinking of a way to pay tribute to him. Pat was very giving, kind, and enjoyed running. Since I was 7 weeks into training for my first full marathon, I approached Shaun about raising money to donate in Pat's honor for our efforts in running 26.2 miles on April 27, 2014, in Canton. Please read below and make any contribution you can to help us reach our goal.

My father, Pat Doherty, was employed by Akron Children's Hospital in the finance department for 39 years. One area of the hospital that he was extremely proud of was the Burn Institute.
We ran our first race together, the "Kids Are Number One Run" to benefit Akron Children's Hospital, when I was in kindergarten. Although he carried me on his shoulders for the last two miles of the five mile race, we both found a hobby that could be enjoyed together.
Unfortunately, his battle with prostate cancer came to an end on February 1, 2014. I am running the Pro Football Hall of Fame Marathon on April 27th, 2014 in his memory, and to raise funds to benefit the Akron Children's Paul and Carol David Foundation Burn Institute.
