Al Hardy medical relief
Organized by: Jen Kauffman
April of 2016 my brother Al was told that he had a mass in his brain, our hope is to help him raise money for medical bills that have accumulated since his surgery. To date the cost of surgery, radiation, cemo, and other medications have cost over $150,000. The insurance company of course has paid for some of the cost but there are bills that they will not cover. Here is part of his story in his own words. "On May 2nd, I had surgery to remove a brain tumor in my right frontal lobe. What the doctor previously thought to be a grade 1 or 2 tumor (which would be considered benign) turned out to be a grade 3 Anaplastic Astrocytoma, which is cancerous. He said it didn't start out like that, it started becoming more aggressive and about 20% of it was aggressive. He managed to remove what he thinks was 100% of it. He said no less than 95%. It can be hard to differentiate between the tumor and normal tissue. So they want to be sure that any cells that may have gotten left behind are irradicated. I am now undergoing Chemo and Radiation therapy. I will be done radiation in the second week of July and will have my follow up appointment with my Neurologist and will be back to work shortly after that. The Chemo therapy will continue after a one month break for 6 months afterwards. So to sum things up, I will be back at work around the second week of July and I will be done completely in February of 2017." Thank you in advance for your thoughts, prays and well wishes!!!
