The Alabama Environmental Council (AEC), Alabama’s oldest environmental advocacy group and manager of the Birmingham recycling center, needs your funding help. Please pledge your support with a year-end, tax deductible contribution to the AEC. Your money will go to continue our new recycling center in Avondale that accepts glass, electronics, plastics, paper, cardboard, tin, aluminum and many more materials. The center also hopes to expand accepted items such as Styrofoam and paint, as well as the hours it is open, with your continued support.
The AEC also works on clean, renewable energy programs in Alabama. Your support helps increase renewable energy, efficiency, and conservation programs. You also fund the vital education and school recycling services we provide.
There have been many extra bills since our move to the new Avondale center, and some revenue set-backs. The commodity markets are lower than ever right now. Many people don’t realize that our operations at the recycling center are all public funded. We receive no money from any municipality for our services. Through the end of the year, we are hoping to raise $30,000 for needed equipment, such as a Bobcat loader and a hard drive destructor, as well as staffing help, and continuation of services.
The AEC is celebrating its 50th year anniversary in 2017. Please help us continue moving forward by contributing at least $50 in honor of our anniversary.
Contributions over $50 will get free glass/electronics recycling card(s) as well! Thank you for your help!
