With your help, Friends of the Alameda Animal Shelter can win $50,000 in grant money. Can you make a generous donation by August 4, 2016? Here's the scoop:
Each year, the Found Animals Foundation holds a competition for shelters called the Michelson Found Animals Saving Pets Challenge. The Challenge is a friendly fundraising competition focused on helping animal nonprofits gain awareness, recognition, and most importantly, cash.
This year, the Challenge will award a $50,000 grand prize to the shelter that raises the most money through Crowdrise.com (a crowdfunding site). The competition will kick off July 5 and your donations will be accepted through August 4.
FAAS made the first cut of the Challenge when our application was accepted back in March. Now we are competing against just 25 other shelters across the country for the grand prize of $50,000! That's not all: on top of the prize money, we get to keep all your donations! It's a huge win-win for Alameda pets!
One great way to raise money is to hold your own mini-fundraiser. Create your own Crowdriser fundraising page and hold a walkathon with friends and coworkers. Or have a fund-raising backyard barbecue, birthday party or bake sale. Ask all your Facebook friends, work friends and neighbors to make a donation. No matter how small, the donations add up!
With a grant this big, FAAS could do big things for the lost and abandoned pets of Alameda: nicer kennels, new training programs, more health tests, more lives saved. On behalf of the animals, thank you!
