I am raising money to support the American Red Cross disaster services. In addition to raising money and awareness, I will be cycling from Houston, Tx to New Orleans, La (533 miles) 3-8 May, 2015. I completed the first Tour du Rouge in 2009 and had an amazing time and am looking forward to the challange.
As a victim of Hurricane Katrina, I have seen the worst mother nature can do, but I have also been a recipient of great support the Red Cross provides. It is durning those hard times that a simple warm meal or a just someone to assure you that everything will get better can do wonders for a persons spirits.
The generosity of people like you can provide exactly what families need:
- $45 can provide fire safety training and installation of smoke alarms to protect one home.
- $100 can feed 10 people after an emergency, making sure victims maintain their strength during a stressful time.
- $200 can house a family of four people in an emergency shelter for a full day when they have no place to go after a house fire or other disaster.
The physical challage of this ride doesn't compare to the challanges the families affected by a natural disaster or a home fire face in the aftermath. When these families lose everything, the Americian Red Cross is there to help them. With your help the Americian Red Cross will be better prepared to support these families in thier time of greatest need.
One compassionate act from you today can help someone you will never meet get through one of life’s most difficult experiences.
Any thing that you can contribute gets us that much more prepared for when disaster strikes.
