I am walking in this fundraiser for my Sister and Nephew. Matthew is a pretty unbelievable, amazing little boy. While I have a hard time sometimes with the word 'disability' (especially since he is more amazing than Most people on the planet *winks*), I do know Matthew has some specific challenges and needs that are outside of what you would find in the typical kid friendly activities. I know a place like the Leg Up Farm does pretty awesome things with and for kids, especially those who see the world a little differently than you and me. I am grateful my sister has found this network of people to work with.
I hope you will join me in supporting Matthew, my sister, and all of the kids who are able to acheive amazing things in life with a little "leg-up" :)!!! xoxoxoxo Below is my sister's story that I wanted to share.... My goal is to help her raise 1/3 of her goal... which is 333. :)...
As many of you know, our son, Matthew, was diagnosed with Asperger Syndrome in the Summer of 2012. Since the day the good Lord blessed us with him, Matt has been a gift, not only to us, but to all those who love him. His kind spirit and naturally sweet demeanor brings us tremendous joy each and every day.
As we look ahead to the future, we know that Matthew will face challenges, but we also know that thanks to the huge network of people who love and support him, he will overcome these obstacles and develop into the amazing young man that he is becoming.
A facility, such as the Leg Up Farm, helps provide families and children with disabilities the support they need to help ensure our children grow and prosper in today’s world. As a parent of a child with a disability, I know firsthand how scary it can be to face the unknown and wonder where to find the resources my child needs to thrive and excel. Thanks to Leg Up Farm that journey will be a little easier. We are very excited about joining this wonderful network of people in supporting Disability Awareness, and ask that you help us in providing the support needed to ensure every family is able to benefit from their amazing services.
Please join us as we sound the Alarm at the Farm for disability awareness.
Date/Time: Saturday, May 18th: Registration begins at 11am and walk begins at 12:00pm. All those interested in walking with us are welcome to contact Amy at 717-383-5379 or via email email@example.com. Our walk will consist of a short loop around the property and is handicap accessible. If you are unable to join us at the farm please consider supporting our team with a monetary donation.
