Albert's Fight for Recovery from Myelitis
Organized by: Ana McLachlan
Albert was diagnosed with Parkison's disease in 2006. He was a professional event photographer (he was hired for my wedding and that's how I got to meet him and his beautiful family), however as a result of the uncontrolable tremor in his hands he had to start declining work and changed his business into studio photography where he relies on the support of a tripod. The lifestyle changes and treatment costs for managing the Parkinson's symptoms were already putting a dent in the family finances.
On October 23, 2014, after feeling discomfort in his back and trying to nurse a headache the whole day, Albert paralyzed from neck down. He has been in the hospital ever since undergoing treatment for myelitis.
In addition to medical costs, they have to cover the costs of accommodation for his wife who is with him in Timisoara (three hours away from their hometown) and her trips home to visit their two children who are in the care of friends.
This fundraiser is a short-term solution. Today, Albert needs all the support he can get to recover from the paralysis. Once this will be over, likely a year or two down the road, they will still have to struggle with the effects of Parkinson's.
Please find it in your heart to contribute to this cause. Make Albert's recovery smoother by supporting them with a financial contribution, and help Albert to go back to being the wonderful husband and amazing father he can be.
Before I conclude this introduction, I must emphasize the value of your dollar/euro. Romania's median monthly income is $500, the cost of living and medical care though are aligned to the Western standard of living. Understand and believe that even a $5 donation will make a difference in their life.
