BENEFITING: Generation Ubuntu
EVENT: Generation Ubuntu's 2015 Westchester Triathlon Corporate Team Challenge
EVENT DATE: Sep 25, 2015
THE STORY:
I am thrilled to participate in the Westchester Triathlon, taking place on September 27th, 2015. I am participating in order to raise awareness and a minimum of $500 for the charity Generation Ubuntu(GenU), which is creating positive change for children living with HIV in South Africa. GenU improves the health and well-being of participants through a holistic care model of health and nutrition, psycho-social support, HIV & life skills education, and community engagement.
Why GenU?
- HIV is the leading cause of death in children under the age of 5
- 100% of the children in Generation Ubuntu's program have not only survived, but thrived, in a country where 680 people die of AIDS related illnesses each day
- Many children living with HIV have been orphaned, live in poverty, and are victims of abuse and bullying
- The Generation Ubuntu program is becoming the GLOBAL model for every child living with HIV.
