BENEFITING: CHALLENGED ATHLETES FOUNDATION
Link to read about the charity I chose to raise money for:
Hello my name is Alicenne. This year I will be doing my second triathlon in Chula Vista. I want to complete this triathlon and "tri" for a cause. I want to have more than just the accomplishment of completing the triathlon, I want to help others accomplish their goals as well. This time I'm trying for our troops; our troops are some of the strongest heros we know and I want to challenge myslef to be strong and do what I can to help be their hero. I had seen a triathlon going on when I was sitting on the beach in 2013 and became motived to want to try to do one myself. I did my first triathlon a in 2014 but I wanted to do it for not only me but for others. Therefore, leading up to the triathlon I helped sponsor and raise money for a group of autistic children in my small hometown of Blythe, CA. We wanted to build a park that had accommodations for autistic children. The organization I helped fund was started up by a few moms who had autistic children and were concerned with the park that we had. I raised funds for them and helped them out. I ran my first triathlon in their honor with a special shirt I created and sold to help raise money. I want to do a similar thing this time as well. I want to complete this triathlon and "tri" for a cause. The organization I want to support and raise awareness for this time is Challenged Athletes Fountaion's (CAF) Operation Rebound. Operation Rebound is about getting American military personnel, veterans and first responders with permanent physical disabilities the help they need to be able to have an active lifestyle and rehabilitation. Most of us know someone who has gone over seas to the battle field and lucky came back safe but made a sacrifice for our country and now have a disability to struggle with, such as loosing a leg or an arm. This foundation helps make it possible for them to harness the healing power of sport. CAF helps fund equipment, training and travel expenses that can help our injured troops and first responders. Help us show the love and support for our troops. It's organizations like CAF that make the amazing and tear jerking success stories we all know and see possible. Help me in my goal to "tri" for a cause and support our troops.
