Alice: Skin Graft Surgery in Kampala, Uganda
Organized by: Chad Spencer
As you may already know, Alice suffers with epilepsy. We have been working with doctors here in Uganda to get her seizures under control. They have reduced, but she is still having occasional incidents.
A few weeks ago she had a seizure and dropped the iron she was using. She collapsed on the floor and her neck was on top of the hot iron. She was burned severely. She has 2nd and 3rd degree burns, about the size of my hand, on her neck and chin. She has another 3rd degree burn on her arm.
After an attempt to let the wound heal, the doctors have decided that she is going to need a skin graft on both her neck and her arm. The surgery will be on Monday, January 4th at a hospital in Kampala where she will have to spend 3 or 4 days overnight.
We are expecting the surgery and her follow up care to be around $1000.
We are trying to keep this fundraiser semi-private in order to respect her privacy. Feel free to send it as a private message or email to anyone you think might be willing to help. We just ask that you do not post it publicly on Facebook or anywhere else publicly.
This website is the best method for us to raise money on a project like this because the money gets to us quickly and we get over 99% of what is donated. Feel free to contact me for info on tax-deductible giving if that would be better for you.
