Hi everyone! On March 13th, I will be running a marathon to raise money for Students for Students International's (S4Si) scholarship program. Founded in 1995, S4Si is the oldest student-led non-profit at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. We believe in the power of education to transform lives and communities and provide scholarships for exceptional students in the developing world. Currently, we fund 40 scholars in Zanzibar, Tanzania and select new scholars each year.
S4Si is an organization that's incredibly close to my heart. During the summer after my freshman year, I was able to travel to Zanzibar as a part of S4Si's delegation and was strongly impressed by the rich cultural fabric, community, and vibrance of the island. More importantly through delegation, I met and befriended our scholars - incredible young women who were quick to smile and eager to welcome us into their homes and lives - and had the privilege of supporting their aspirations for themselves and their communities.
My goal is to raise $600 - that's enough money to support one scholar through two years of secondary education. For more details about S4Si and how the money would be used, please visit www.s4siunc.org. I'm so grateful for my own educational opportunities and grateful to you for helping me support my international peers!
