BENEFITING: SPECIAL PEOPLE IN NORTHEAST INC SPIN CENTER
EVENT DATE: Oct 31, 2015
On Saturday, October 31, 2015, I will be running my eight half marathon at the Philadelphia Rock and Roll Half Marathon. While delayed a few weeks this year thanks to Pope Francis’ visit, a 13.1 casual jog (or in some years, sufferfest) is always a highlight of the fall for me. This year will be my fifth consecutive time toeing the line at the Art Museum, and to celebrate I’ll be running to raise money for SPIN Inc. (Special People in Northeast) in memory of my grandparents, Charles and Rita Costello, and my Uncle Tim Costello, who was a longtime SPIN client.
SPIN Inc. was founded in 1971 when a group of parents at the Torresdale School Special Education program wanted a summer camp for their children after a cut in state funding. What started as Camp SPIN has grown into an organization that supports 3,500 individuals living with physical and intellectual disabilities and Autism in the Philadelphia and Lehigh Valley areas.
After years of running for myself, I’m excited to take this opportunity to support an organization that has impacted so many families, including my own. Any donation is greatly appreciated and will go a long way to helping provide a life with possibilities.
