Alin of Pita Pockets.
Organized by: Samia Ahmad
I am one of the owners of Pita Pockets on Hollywood Blvd, in Hollywood, Florida. I am appealing to you in hopes to raise some money for one of our employees, technically, but a friend or a brother is a better description of how I feel. Alin walked into the doors of Pita Pockets some time in October/November of 2012, soon after its first opening. Standing tall beside his girlfriend Anda, his smile brightened the room around him. Curiously, we asked, "Where are you from, Alin?" (As many of our customers ask as well). "I am from Romania," he said. They were both looking for employment. We hired Alin on the spot because we were in desperate need for help but couldn't afford to hire both at the same time. As days, months and years went on, Alin proved to be an honest and hard working man. The customers loved him as well as we, his employers did too. Through thick and thin, hard times of running a business and partnership turmoil, Alin was the most secure thing in our entire business establishment. No matter how hard of times we had as a business and as our personal lives played out their roles, Alin kept on with his duties with trust and loyalty. But sometime in Mid 2015 much to my dismay and heart wrench, I received the news that Alin has cancer. Ironically, I was relieved to know that it was in a muscle in the leg and not in any organ or system. So I had hope. And I wanted to help. But what could I do? I, myself, can help a little and could only offer comfort and moral support. But unfortunately, what he needs most is financial help. He has not even told his family in Romania about his condition and continues to work and send them money. After undergoing chemotherapy and now radiation, he's scheduled for surgery in five weeks. And then he cannot work until he recovers but his bills won't stop there, and his obligations to his family in Romania won't stop either. Please help me help him with any donation you can possibly give, no amount is too small because there is power in numbers. And that is why I ask that you share this with your friends to help spread the word to help a very good soul. May God bless you and may Alin recover to see a long life of good health and happiness. Thank you,
Samia and Haleema, Pita Pockets, Hollywood.
