Walk to Remember less than 2 weeks away!!
May 02, 2016
Dear Friends & Family,
I hope this email finds each of you healthy and happy! It is time again for Circle of Care's 7th annual Walk to Remember, and I am calling on you to help to support this wonderful program!
On Saturday May 14th 2016, I will be participating in our 7th Annual Walk to Remember event. Celebrating life and remembering how precious it is.
My mom, AKA GG has been cancer free for the last 4 years!!!!! I am walking to support my mom in her continued health, and to give thanks for this great opportunity to appreciate life and to have more time on this earth with her. Keep it up GG!
This past summer my Dad gave us a big scare when he unexpectedly had a brain aneurysm. Thankfully he had excellent care at Mt. Eden, and has made a full recovery which is pretty much a miracle if you look at the statitics....So thankful that I still get time with you my daddy!
I also will be walking to remember the beautiful lives of two very special people who passed away in 2015 after long battles with cancer.
Ron Thompson, Thank you for teaching me so much, for always being there when Courtland and I needed it, and for helping to support me to realize many of my dreams. Your memory is with me always - in my house, and in my heart.
Laura Warren, you beautiful human being. I will always rememember all of the amazing camping and hiking trips, our Flyin' Lion brew, and your courage to always fight your illness. You never gave up, and have inspired so many to live fully. I will always remember your smile, humor, intellect, and generous spirit. Thank for inspiring me. I miss you.
Our time here on this planet is extremely precious, and I am so lucky to have the wonderful support of friends and family and co-workers that give me purpose, and have helped me through. My community is now two less, but their memory will always live on in me.
And of course I would be leaving out a huge bit of information if I did not let you know about where your donations will go! I am so privilidged to work for a program that makes sure that a child will be supported through their experience when their mom is diagnosed with cancer, or when their dad died unexpectedly. Not everyone has access to the strong support network of friends and family that I do, and Circle of Care helps to be that support to children and families in Oakland.
This year we are especially in need of your support as grant funding for grief services has been steadly dwindleing over the past couple of years, and funds raised by this walk are detrimental to the survivle of Circle of Care servcies. We are trying to raise at least 45K this year which is a big jump from last year (we raised 25K)
I am asking you to sponsor my Walk by making a donation today. Help me reach my goal of raising $5,000 for Circle of Care. Donations of 50.00 & 100.00 will make a huge impact, but no donation is too small, even 5.00 and 10.00 will make a difference for a grieving family and will help us to continue our programming.
If you are feeling really spunky, register for the Walk in honor or memory of your own special person and help us fundraise! It will be a fun day, so come walk with me, get some good exercise, grub, and support an awesome program.
Thank you all for supporting me over the last 5 years....collectively raising over 15K!! Thank you for supporting a program that is a huge part of my life, and for all the love and positive energy you put out into the world. Year after year, I am one lucky human being.
