Thank you all so much for yo…
Thank you all so much for your donations, support and kind words of encouragement over the past months. Our BALS Marathon Team raised $104,324 from 191 donations. You are all incredibly generous and I hope you feel great about that. It feels good to do good!

The L.A. Marathon went well for the whole team. Mary completed her first 26.2, so she was guaranteed a PR. Maureen is a veteran marathoner and kept her focus on the pizza and beer at the finish. Tom stayed with our wheelchair marathoner, Chris, for the whole distance. Mike was having a tough day with early debilitating shin splints, but when he caught up to the wheelchair at mile 20 he was able to enjoy the last six miles running with the chair, having put his own pain in perspective. Pushing the chair is a very uplifting experience and the runners and spectators really respond to the effort. There is a tradition at the end that the ALS marathoner gets out of the chair and walks across the finish line with his family. It’s an emotional experience and worth taking a look at the pictures here: https://www.facebook.com/Beat-ALS-Marathon-Team-686930354690923/

The ALS Association’s Chief Scientist, Lucie Bruijn, Ph.D. MBA, sent a nice update explaining how our donations are funding research right here in the West through the Neuro Collaborative, which combines the efforts of three prominent laboratories at Cedars-Sinai, UCSD and the Gladstone Institutes (UCSF). These efforts are currently leading to actual clinical trials that show promise and also are developing technologies that will facilitate their transition from bench science to effective therapies. There is hope and we are making progress.

I’d like to express one last thank you for sticking with us these four years. I know donor fatigue sets in and that’s especially true after Michael’s passing, which took away that personal connection and urgency. But I know exactly what Michael would be doing if he were here and one of us wasn’t. He would be putting his head down and doing the work and trying to help other families dealing with the worst news they will ever hear. He would want to offer them some comfort and hope. And that is why we will be back next year and we hope you will be right here with us.

Thanks Alison. Your donatio…
Thanks Alison. Your donation is very generous. And coincidentally, I've received generous donations from Eric Brown (of course he was going to donate antway, but there was no way he wasn't going to donate tonight after your precedent) and Louis Tomiselli (again, all your doing)! You're like a matching grant factory for me. Anyone else you want to guilt into donating? Let's discuss.

Seriously, I really appreciate your support.

Thank you very much.

I wanted to thank everyone a…
I wanted to thank everyone again for donating to my marathon race. I was successful in a couple things through this race.

1. I finished the race, it was much harder then I expected in terms of the weather being warm and the course being very hilly throughout but it was an awesome experience especially with the amount of people lining the course. There were some tough times especially at the end but I was able to finish which to me is most important. Running through the finish line with all those people cheering me is not something I will soon forget.

2. I was able to surpass my goal of $10,000 to get a total of $10,707 raised. My friends and I who raced from Newport Beach raised a total of over $42,000 and most importantly the Boston Medical Center raised well past their goal to almost $1.1m raised just from this race to help kick start their new expansion of their emergency room.

3. I learned I have some amazing friends and family who were willing it support me on this journey and donate money to a great cause and follow me the day of the race. I am truly thankful for the support, well wishes, and encouragement I received before and after the race. I am truly blessed to have so many great people in my life.

Thank you again for donating to this campaign and I can tell you that given I am still sore five days after the race my marathon days might be behind me!

Always stay Boston Strong
